Jimmy Sandy Memorial School was inaugurated in 1985, and since that time, it has undergone numerous renovations and expansions, including, in more recent years, the addition of a gym, work-out centre, updated bathrooms and showers. Soon, the plan is to move forward with the addition of a cafeteria to better serve the needs of students who participate in the breakfast program, and who will be able to enjoy having lunch at school.
For the 2020-2021 school year, the school has over 275 students from 4-year-old Kindergarten to Secondary V.
Check out the News section for information about what is happening at the school, and also keep an eye on the various Facebook pages (Jimmy Sandy Mem High, NEC, etc.).
James Chescappio Memorial Learning Centre
A long-term agreement between the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach and the NEC together with the Central Québec School Board has allowed for converting a house near JSMS into the adult learning centre that is currently where adult education classes are generally offered.
Students who are interested in knowing more can visit the NEC Facebook page and even join one of the “closed groups” for Adult Education, Vocational Training and Post-Secondary Studies. While we transition to making information available here, some information will remain available there.
You can even connect with a counselor in academic training or ask questions of staff and administration.
